I have a 2.3L from a 91 Mustang.
Its being swapped into another vehicle and I am trying to find out how to power the harness.
From what I can tell, I need power to pin 1, Pin 37, and pin 57
I believe that pin 1 gets power from the EEC Relay which attaches to pin 1 and the key harness. So I should be able to bypass this with positive from the battery and it should power the whole system?
or do I need to power pin 37 & 57 as well? It looks like the relay powers these pins...
Pin1 is Keep alive power, so I figured this is just waiting for power from the key to turn the whole system on.
I've attached a diagram with how I think it works... Correct me if I am wrong.
I don't want to fry the ECU.
Sorry I didn't mean to make another thread.

Keep alive goes straight to battery. 37 and 57 come from keyed relay.

Is this engine a 8plug engine? If so you have the wrong wiring diagram. Note diagram has TFI and no coil packs. This is a 87 to 90 Mustang engine wiring diagram.
Now if is a 4 plug with distributor. That diagram looks correct. Check out this site use a 87 to 90 wiring diagram. Now to pinpoint better what year need code off the computer.
wiring diagram here.

Codes I am talking about.
Fuel Injection Technical Library » EEC Program Codes
Major question right now is the engine a 4 spark plug engine or 8 spark plug engine? Can help more then. Maurice

Its a 4 plug system with distributor. I thought it went up to 91, my mistake.
I am having trouble finding where the EEC relay actually gets power from. I follow pin 1 to the relay, but I can't find the main plug that would have been hooked to the battery, or had a plug that ran to the battery. Do you have any idea where pin ended or branched off to?
The wire is red so there are a lot of red wires running down the harness and I don't want to hook it to one that is too small and melt it.
I have yet to put any fuses in, so if you have any advice on what I should fuse and at what amperage let me know.
